6 Days Port Aransas Annual Trip
Every year we take a group trip to Port A with a handful of buddies from high school and all of our kids. Kids and adults included it’s about 30 ppl. Such a great time and always great memories!
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Port Aransas
We typically take 281 instead of going down 35 to skip the traffic.

We always have a blast on our beach trip here. It’s great for families. We like staying between 11th street and the beach. We get a huge tent (pictured) set up for the entire weekend. If you’re going with a few families and can split the cost, it’s definitely worth it.

We love Port A for a good TX beach trip. You can drive on the beach with a permit. We always rent a golf cart. Lots of ice cream shops and little beach shops. Great family beach spot. We like to stay between 11th street and the beach around mile marker 6.
H-E-B
Roovio — Stop at HEB to grab food for the weekend
Awesome H-E-B experience clean interior. Lots of parking large amounts for curbside I can imagine during the tourist season. This can get very busy pretty large selection of sushi from the sushiya area.
Jacob in the HEB-Rockport seafood department provides OUTSTANDING customer service!! I am 30 mins from the HEB in Rockport and had gone by a few times, then started calling about a particular type of salmon patty that they were out of evertime I went by. Jacob was so helpful everytime I spoke with him! Letting me know when the patties were made and making sure I got some that day!! His kind of service is rare and refreshing!
Sandi and Omri from the deli were SOOOO kind, knowledgeable and helpful, they have a customer for life in me. Being new to the area, I'm kind of shy getting to know people but if this is any indication, I'm in a wonderful place. HEB-- Thanks to Sandi and Omri, I now have my home town shopping spot! Give em' a raise 👏
Damn I didn’t expect to come to rockport and get shrimp and fish from Ecuador 🇪🇨 lol. The ocean is right there! Glad they have local seafood markets in rockport but I expect better from HEB when I visit the coast and they boast about local seafood on commercials.
There is a real hometown feel here at this location. Everyone has always been so helpful and friendly. The staff here truly seems to like their jobs and take pride in what they do. They do a very good job keeping the store clean and well organized. It has easy access off Hwy 35 with many shaded parking spots. They have many parking spots available for the curbside pickup to help with no contact shopping. They clean and sanitize all carts before customer uses. There is a very good selection of fruits and vegetables and have many organic selections also. Good selection of meat and seafood, and good prices for each. We appreciate that they have gulf, local fish and shrimp. Keep up the good work, we really appreciate what you do for the community.
Port A Beach Buggies
Roovio — I like to get the Mexican flag cart. It has the best sound system
We recently rented a golf cart during our beach trip. Unfortunately, we experienced an issue with the cart, but the company handled the situation professionally and worked with us to make things right. Their communication was prompt, and they followed through on resolving the issue. While things didn't go exactly as planned, I really appreciate a business that stands behind its customers. Because of how they handled the situation, I would still recommend them to others and have already referred friends who are visiting the area. These are so fun to ride around the island!!! Thank you for the great customer service and for making things right.
I have rented from them 3 times now (I have a 4th reservation in April. This outfit has always been super pleasant to deal with. They aren’t “cheap” but I wouldn’t classify them as over expensive either. This weekend we had a problem with the cart we rented (it just didn’t accelerate and was a bit slow. I called and their response was “I this is a common problem, I brought it to their location and they had a new one ready when I showed up. Based on this experience plus previous trouble free experiences I would recommend.
Im very impressed with this place every year we got to Port aransas and ive rented carts from different place with rude costumer service pulls a cart around when I say I didn't want that cart they would say this is all we have and the quality was extremely bad. These people are extremely friendly let me pick the cart i wanted blue tooth radio and all I highly recommend this place for your rental!
Great experience renting a cart from Port A Beach Buggies. I simply sent an email requesting a quote for 3 days. Scott replied promptly and professionally with my exact rate for the cart I requested and confirmed my booking without even requiring a deposit up front, which I thought was pretty nice. Upon arrival Scott and the entire staff were very pleasant and service oriented. Their carts are pretty cool because each one is different amd you can pick one that suits your personality rather than all the cookie cutter ones with other outfitters. Best experience I've had renting carts in Port A for years. I'll be renting again from them next month and every time in the future.
The man working is completely unprofessional, instead of helping he talks about how much you will owe him if you mess up his buggy there are plenty of other places that offer the same service. Update Returned cart with no issues and on time so all your comments were unnecessary. Please consider treating customers with basic human respect.
Port A Creamery
Roovio — This place was awesome, the ice cream selection was really good. My wife and daughter got some ice cream and we played corn hole outside for a while. Staff was excellent and friendly! My wife won the $5 wheel spin and got a free tumbler!
1st, I do want to say… the Waffle Sunday was delicious!! I really wanted to like this place but the location/building needs to be cleaned. Overflowing trash can and dirty mop was the first thing we saw as we walked in. Floor needed a desperate cleaning/mopping. And the place needs more chairs if owner is expecting more customers. Owner was taking up two of the 6 chairs available… yet didn’t offer paying customers a seat. We had to ask. On that note… owner never greeted us, acknowledged us or even said BOO! Unfortunately for her, there are other ice cream locations on the islands with much better customer service and much cleaner facilities.
We went here 3 days in one week! Safe to say we loved it! Everyone here was super nice! The banana split was huge! I 100% recommend this place!
Our first time trying Port A Creamery and so we were excited to add this to our experience but was extremely disappointed. We ordered a milkshake and hot fudge sundae - the milkshake was extremely runny, overmixed and like milk; the hot fudge sundae was overflowing and dripping everywhere. The lady helping us wrapped it in several napkins expressing she didn't know what happened to the sundae as spilling over. The staff was friendly but left us with a mess and waste of $18.
Not such a good service we went today 7/31/25 around 1pm one of the young lady’s had a attitude when we were ordering. My husband got a banana split and she made faces so I gave her a look like what’s the problem. She never asked what kind of ice cream he wanted she just a sum . He asked her if he was able to pick the ice cream and she told him yes rolling her eyes and attitude. The other girl helped me , I got two ice cream cones and payed I just wanted to get out of there. Not a good vibe in that place and I will not go back . Sorry but that was not good service at all atleast from the one that did the banana slip.
Tippy Toes
Roovio
We love getting toe rings here! I always do permanent ones. Our little one got feathers in her hair too. Cute jewelry!
The store is cute and I love my toe rings however I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have the one I wanted in my size. So I settled for a second option. It was very busy around 2:30 and the store is small and cramped. But other than that the store is great and the staff was nice.
I received my first toe ring ever from tipsy toes and I am in love!!! The business is very clean, professional, and cute! Absolutely a must before heading to the beach to show off your cute toes (the only reason i’m not posting a pic is because I need a pedicure)
First Timer! Adorable little place, sweet & friendly service. Rachel put my toe ring on and I loved her enthusiasm. Parking is a little problem, not enough spaces for all the businesses in there. Loved Tippy Toes! ❤️
Great experience per usual, very happy with my experience! Great selection of toe rings and the fitting was perfect! I have been to many toe rings shops and this one seems to be priced very fair! Added two new today!
Loved this place! Took a while to size me and the owner was so patient and kind. I recommend this place for custom toe rings! Great selection, thick, thin... nickel free, sterling silver, rose gold, and real gold. They're also a cute boutique that has jewelry, bags, socks, and much more. A true gem on the island. I'll definitely come back on my next visit!

We love coming here the last night at the beach. The white chocolate bread pudding and shrimp & grits are to die for.

A staple when staying in Port A. The shrimp & grits and white chocolate pudding were the show stoppers.
Perfect lightning inside, ambiance (live music), and amazing food! Best food in Port A Appetizer - bread 10/10 Entree - Cajun fish and my husband loved the Mahi mahi Dessert - do not leave this place without trying the bread pudding
We had an absolutely spectacular dinner at Black Marlin last night! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. Our meals were outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every dish exceeded our expectations, and it was clear that great care goes into both the food and presentation. The cocktails were excellent as well and paired perfectly with our meal. What truly made the evening memorable was the amazing service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel genuinely valued as guests throughout the entire dining experience. If you’re visiting Port Aransas and looking for a fantastic dinner, Black Marlin is a must-visit. We can’t wait to come back!
What a great find! Tired of the same old fried food, overpriced drinks establishments, we were excited to find a place that offered upscale food, in a comfortable setting, at reasonable prices. We chose to dine outside, ordered the fish of the day (Redfish) which was prepared just perfectly, and also ordered the blackened Mahi Mahi tacos. Are service was exceptional and we loved how the chef didn't overseason and cover up the natural flavors of our fish. Simply Delicious and it was a simply beautiful evening. We'll definitely be back!
The food was way too overpriced for the amount of food served and the quality of it, for instance the pasta Alfredo was bitter. I do have to say that the atmosphere is nice. You need reservations if you want to sit inside but the patio is first come first serve, which is what we did. Servers were very friendly.
Not sure how to start explaining why I didn't enjoy this very expensive and equally boring dinner. The tone of the evening was immediately thwarted in the wrong direction when the hostess called me out for the shirt I was wearing. It was thick shoulder strap sleeveless v-neck twist front & ribbed cotton shirt in olive green color (clearly not a bathing suit top) with white floral shorts. She asked if I had something I could 'cover up' with because "the dress code says they cant have 'anything' showing" whatever that means. Im a fit, small chested woman in my 30s, so I'm not sure what was showing that was so disruptive that she had to make me feel so uncomfortable about it as I came through the door. To help perspective one of my group had a crop top & athletic shorts, another had a one piece body tight jumper that was extremely short in the shorts but they said absolutely nothing to them. The people that were already inside had tanktop, crop top, spaghetti strap dresses/ tshirts & shorts, casual clothes. Mind you this is basically a beach front restaurant so not a black tie kind of place though that's what I feel like they're going for, unsuccessfully. However the moment she got done explaining how I had completely broken they're obviously biased dresscode she said "but its fine yall can just come sit" so like why say anything then? Because after that welcome I was just upset & super uncomfortable the rest of the dinner especially because I was sitting directly in eye line of the host stand & got to watch her watching me the entire time, along with the many many people who came in after me in much more frumpy/beach bum/ shoulder & midriff revealing clothing with no mention of their attire. Next let me say how the food is mediocre & over priced. My mom & I had one drink each 2 entrees & an appetizer for a whopping $175 dollars. My groups total was almost $500. Not sure who is marking the cost as $20-30 per person on these reviews but they're sorely mistaking. The service was fine in the sense that the servers were nice, when the food came out it was a little chaotic & didn't all come out together 3 of got food then 10 mins later the other 3 dishes came out. The corn On the cob that came with my dish was not just 'sat on the counter cold' but 'stored in the fridge then poorly reheated cold'. I took 2 bites to come to this realization, I told my server & she said she'd have the kitchen reheat it & I mention to her, oh I already took some bites can you take it back to the kitchen like that? (I don't believe so according to basic food safety procedures). Apparently you can because she did just that & brought back the same cob clearly over microwaved & by that'd time we were all done eating. The Mac & cheese is the kind you get at the hot deli area of the grocery store. So disappointing. That basically covers it, my advice don't bother save your money or spend it somewhere else. This place is too upper crust especially for being on an island in the gulf. The need to get over themselves.
Port Aransas
It’s always best to leave before 9:30 so you don’t hit the exiting traffic. No fun!
