Humidity Wrecked My Hair

ME

8 Days 20 Activities

When my husband Emmanuel suggested Puerto Rico, I was super hesitant. I wanted something feasible yet kinda luxurious, and PR felt too casual. But after scrolling itineraries on Roovio, I got so excited I said yes! (just like his proposal!). Our first couple getaway was so incredible that I want all the new ones to try it. Here is my 5-day itinerary in Puerto Rico that you can copy and follow:

Roovio

Landed at SJU from our flight, grabbed our bags, and took a public bus to our Airbnb before starting our walking tour.

Exploring Historic Old San Juan

Viejo San Juan

Roovio Google

Wandered through cobblestone streets to tour historic Spanish forts. The ocean views were stunning, even if the intense humidity completely ruined my hair!

Sunset Drinks & Dinner

Marmalade

Roovio

Had dinner at Sofia's and Marmalade. If you want top-tier mofongo for around $15–$20, go there—the manager and staff make an extra effort to understand your taste and recommend delicious variations.

Evening Bar Crawl

La Placita de Santurce

Roovio

Headed over to La Placita for nightlife and drinks. Experiencing that vibrant music scene makes me want to jump on a flight back right now!

3
Morning Walk & Breakfast

Pinky's Calle Loíza

Roovio

Strolled to a seaside cafe near the water for hot coffee and fresh pastries to energize for our couple activities.

Wedding Party Event at Condado Ocean Club

Condado Ocean Club

Roovio

Dressed up for a romantic wedding party at the oceanfront Miramar Ballroom in Condado.

4
Morning Bus to El Yunque

El Yunque National Forest

Caught an early bus east to hike rainforest trails. Seeing lush green waterfalls firsthand felt like pure tropical magic!

Beach Kiosks Lunch in Luquillo

Kiosko #48

Roovio

Ate seafood mofongo and plantains at the Luquillo kiosks for $18. I strongly suggest stopping here for delicious cheap eats.

Relaxing at Luquillo Beach

Luquillo Beach

Roovio

Unwound on golden sands together, taking in the calm ocean breeze before sunset.

Bioluminescent Bay Kayak Tour

Laguna Grande

Joined an 8:00 PM bioluminescent kayak tour in Fajardo ($65 per person). Watching the glowing water light up around our paddles was unforgettable!

5
Flight to Culebra Island

Benjamín Rivera Noriega Airport

Roovio

Boarded a small Cape Air flight to Culebra. Pro-tip: Book early flights so day-trippers haven't filled the beach yet!

Flamenco Beach Relaxation

Stepped onto the white sand at Flamenco Beach. Having that pristine shore almost completely to ourselves for hours was so romantic.

Water Shuttle to Culebrita

Culebrita

Took a boat shuttle over to Culebrita island ($50). The secluded beaches and turquoise water made me fall in love with the island all over again.

Beachfront Villa Check-in

Culebra Beach Villas

Roovio

Checked into a one-story Airbnb villa near Flamenco Beach in Culebra ($150/night). Insider advice: definitely choose the one-story villas over four-story complexes for actual peace and quality!

Drove to San Sebastián to swim in the Gozalandia waterfall pools. Jumping off the rocks into the cool, fresh water was the ultimate adrenaline kick!
