7 Days 3-Day Austin Itinerary
Hello folks!!! I just got back to Tampa after three days in Austin, and honestly, this trip gave me two reasons to smile. My friend Eddie married his school sweetheart, and I somehow ended up becoming the unofficial planner of our little wedding weekend. Between the wedding events, I went to parks, explored Texas history, ate good food, and saw some of those Austin landmarks I'd only seen in pictures. If you're heading to Austin, this plan gives you a little bit of everything without making you feel like you're late for the next stop.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
Roovio — Google — I flew in from Tampa, grabbed my bags, and was ready to get the weekend started. I took a taxi to The LINE Austin because I didn't want to waste my first afternoon figuring out connections.
The LINE Austin
Roovio — Google — I could have stayed at Eddie's place, but I booked my own room at The LINE Austin for one simple reason. I wanted to be close to the wedding events but still have my own little base for exploring the city.
Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail
Roovio — Google — I had slept nearly 10 hours the night before, so I wasn't dragging myself around Austin like a zombie. Eddie's friends' meetup wasn't until 9 PM, which gave me a few hours to see the city. I took a short ride to the Butler Trail and walked along Lady Bird Lake. The skyline sitting right behind the water honestly surprised me. I expected a normal city walk.
The LINE Austin
Roovio — Google — Back at the hotel, I took a shower, changed, and rested my feet for a while. This little break saved me. After a flight and a few hours of walking around Austin, my feet had their own opinion.
Austin Beerworks
Roovio — Google — I took a taxi to Austin Beerworks' original taproom for the friends' meetup. On the way, I stopped to pick up white roses because Eddie loves them. It was a tiny thing, but I knew he'd notice. By the time I walked in, everyone was already talking, laughing, and catching up. I stayed for a while, enjoyed the evening, and then took a taxi back to the hotel rather than stretching the night too far.
South Congress Avenue
Roovio — Google — New morning, new plans. I had to be at the wedding later in the day, so I got up early and headed toward South Congress for breakfast. I wanted to see the area before the wedding rather than squeeze it into some rushed evening stop.
East 6th Street
Roovio — Google — I walked around Sixth Street while it was still daytime. That was funny because I knew this was the same area people talk about for nightlife, yet in the morning it felt almost sleepy. It was a completely different side of the street.
Mexic-Arte Museum
Roovio — Google — I walked over to the Mexic-Arte Museum for a short art stop. I didn't want another huge attraction that would eat up the whole morning. The museum gave me something different from the Capitol and Sixth Street, and I liked having a quieter stop before the wedding rush started.
Taqueria De Diez (D/10)
Roovio — Google — Lunchtime. I kept it simple and quick because I still had to get ready. The last thing I wanted was to arrive at the wedding already tired and wishing I'd skipped half the morning.
The LINE Austin
Roovio — Google — Back at the hotel. Shower, outfit change, shoes, a little perfume, and then the moment of staring at myself in the mirror, wondering if I was actually ready. I gave myself plenty of time instead of trying to squeeze getting ready into the last 30 minutes.
The LINE Austin
Roovio — Google — Wedding mode officially started. Eddie's ceremony and reception were being held at The LINE Austin, so I didn't have to cross town after getting dressed. I headed downstairs, met some of his family, and had time to settle in before the ceremony.
The LINE Austin
Roovio — Google — Once the reception wound down, I went straight back to my room. No taxi, no late-night drive, no trying to squeeze another attraction into the day. I was exhausted and completely fine with it.
South Congress Avenue
Roovio — Google — I slept in. After the wedding, a 7 AM alarm would have been an act of cruelty. I grabbed breakfast around South Congress and let the morning start slowly.
McKinney Falls State Park
Roovio — Google — Once I felt human again, I took a taxi to McKinney Falls State Park. It was a nice change from downtown Austin, with trails, water, and a much quieter setting. I kept the visit fairly short because I still had a few more places I wanted to see. The park is southeast of downtown, so this was one of those stops where a taxi made much more sense than trying to walk or figure out multiple connections.
KG BBQ
Roovio — Google — I took a taxi over to East Austin for lunch at KG BBQ. I wanted something different from South Congress, and this area delivered. The murals, small businesses, and food spots made the neighborhood feel more local and less polished.
Texas State Cemetery
Roovio — Google — I almost skipped this stop. Then I remembered I'd already seen some of the big Austin landmarks, so why not see something quieter? I took a short taxi ride over and walked around the cemetery.
Rainey Street Historic District
Roovio — Google — I took another short ride to Rainey Street for an early dinner and a drink. The old bungalow-style houses turned into bars caught my attention because it felt so different from the Capitol and South Congress. I walked around slowly, took a few pictures, and enjoyed the evening without trying to squeeze in another ten things.
The LINE Austin
Roovio — Google — Back at the hotel, I packed my bags, took one last shower, and grabbed everything I'd somehow scattered around the room over three days.
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
Roovio — Google — I took a taxi to the airport and flew back to Tampa with tired feet, a very full stomach, plenty of laughs, and a camera roll packed with memories.
