2-Day Austin Wedding Itinerary

5 Days 17 Activities

Planning a wedding in Austin is a little different. You're not just booking a venue, feeding the guests, and sending everyone home. You've got Texas heat to work around, guests flying in from different cities, rehearsal plans, photos, dinner, music, and at least one person who will ask where they can find good tacos. So I'd keep the wedding itself at the center and build everything else around it. This two-day plan gives guests enough Austin without turning the wedding weekend into a sightseeing marathon.

Guests started arriving throughout the morning. We had a few rides arranged to the hotel, which made things much easier than having everyone figure out transportation after a flight.

By noon, most people had checked in and dropped their bags. Nobody was in a huge hurry to go sightseeing yet, so we gave everyone some time to shower, grab a coffee, and settle in.

Once everyone was ready, we headed over to South Congress. We walked around the shops, grabbed coffee, and took the obligatory photo at the \I love you so much\" mural. It was an easy first stop and didn't feel like we were trying to see all of Austin in one afternoon."

We went back to the hotel for a break. Some people napped, some changed for the evening, and I just sat in the room with the AC running for a while. Austin's heat definitely makes a mid-afternoon break feel like a good idea.

Around 6:30, the wedding party and immediate family headed over for the rehearsal. It didn't take too long. We walked through the ceremony, figured out where everyone needed to stand, and ran through the entrances once or twice.

A few of us still had energy, so we went downtown for drinks and live music. Others went straight back to the hotel, which honestly made sense after a full travel day.

By 10:30, I was ready for bed. Tomorrow was the wedding, and nobody wanted to show up looking like they had spent the night partying on Sixth Street.

The morning started with coffee and breakfast. I was expecting everyone to be awake early, but a surprising number of people were still taking their time.

The wedding party started getting ready while everyone else had a slower morning. Hair and makeup took a few hours, and naturally there was a little last-minute scrambling over dresses, shoes, flowers, and everything else.

Guests who weren't part of the wedding party had a free morning. Some went for coffee, some stayed in their rooms, and a few went out for a quick indoor activity. It was nice not having another group activity forced into the schedule.

We kept the outdoor photos fairly short because the Austin heat was already noticeable. South Congress gave us a recognizable Austin backdrop, and after a few group shots, everyone was more than happy to get back into the car.

We headed straight to the venue after photos. That gave everyone time to cool down, fix their hair, and make those last-minute adjustments before guests started arriving.

Guests began arriving around 45 minutes before the ceremony. There were cold drinks waiting, people catching up in the shade, and that familiar feeling that suddenly everyone was looking at the clock.

And then it was finally time. The ceremony started at 4, which worked much better than trying to put everyone outside during the hottest part of the afternoon.

Dinner came next, followed by the speeches, cake, and first dance. By this point, the formal part of the day was starting to disappear and everyone was just enjoying themselves.

We wrapped things up with a final song and a simple send-off. It felt like the right time to end rather than keep the reception going just because we could.

A shuttle took everyone back to the hotel, and that was pretty much it. Two days, one wedding, plenty of Austin food, and a lot of tired people heading upstairs.
